Special Cards
RLCS Special Cards
Special cards are the rare, collectible side of Rocket Draft — versions of real players tied to the biggest moments in RLCS history. There are 84 to chase, and every one is earned the same way: draft it, finish the run, keep it forever.
What special cards are
Special cards are rare versions of real players tied to iconic Rocket League esports moments — Worlds and Major MVP runs, era-defining legends, signature plays. They can appear in ANY draft, on any difficulty, because the pool is always fully random. A special often rates above the player's base card and carries a stronger effect, so pulling one mid-run can reshape the whole roster you were building.
How you unlock them
The rule is simple: draft the special card into your lineup, then FINISH the run — win or lose, it doesn't matter. Complete the tournament with that card on your team and it unlocks in your Collection permanently. There's no grind and no account required; you just have to see the run through. Until you unlock one, it shows in-game as ??? — discovering them is part of the play.
Rarities and effects
Special cards ramp in effect by tier — legends, MVP cards, and standout moments scale up as you climb the rarity ladder. Effects are direct attribute boosts that feed the same six internal stats every card uses: Offense, Defense, Mechanics, Consistency, Experience, and Clutch. The higher the tier, the bigger the edge it brings to your team rating, which is why a well-placed special can lift a roster above a stronger-looking field.
A few legendary examples
The names on this showcase are the ones the community remembers. "The Mountain" is Kronovi, the Season 1 champion and one of the first defining superstars of the scene. "Pinch God" is kuxir97, Season 2 World Champion and Worlds MVP. "Four Times World Champion" is Turbopolsa, owner of four RLCS World Championships. These are the kind of legends a special card exists to celebrate.
How they fit the draft
A special card is never a free win — your team rating is driven mostly by player overalls, with chemistry, org buffs, coaches, and special effects adding the edge on top. The smart play is fitting a special into a lineup that already has overall and chemistry, not chasing a shiny card into a roster that doesn't hold together. Use one to sharpen a build, and let the run decide whether it joins your Collection.
84 to collect — with the mystery intact
There are 84 special cards in all, and the in-game Collection keeps its mystery: locked cards stay as ??? until you earn them, so your unlock progress is yours alone. This page is a public, curated showcase of the legends — a celebration of RLCS history, not a spoiler dump. Head to Play, draft a real historical lineup, and start hunting your first one.
